Why Teletherapy?

Teletherapy is beneficial for children and adults of all abilities. Teletherapy can be conducted from the comfort and safety of your home, without the hassle and cost of commuting to a physical office.

With the wealth of engaging resources available online, you or your child will have access to more modalities to improve. Teletherapy is essential for those in rural and remote communities, who may not otherwise be able to access services.

Teletherapy vs. In-Person for Children

Many parents have commented that their children didn't do as well with school online during the pandemic. However, 1-to-1 is not the same as 1-to-25. A private session with a speech-language pathologist looks very different from a large class of 25 students and only one teacher. Here's a few of the differences:

The length of a (virtual) school day lead many students to fatigue and lose interest, however, virtual sessions with an SLP are much shorter and highly engaging.

Lesson plans are fluid, and can change with the child's needs. If the child is not interested or engaged in an activity, another activity can be switched out that targets the same goals, but appeals more to your child. In the virtual classroom, teachers were unable to adjust activities according to your child's interests. They did not have that flexibility.

Much of speech therapy is disguised as games, stories, and fun time. We work a bit, we play a bit. The balance between fun and work keeps children engaged and interactive.

Our sessions are fun. Period. Nine times out of ten, (we're proud to say) kids are asking when they're going to have speech therapy again.

Teletherapy vs.
In-Person for Adults

The perks of teletherapy may look different for adults than children, but there are still quite a few:

Cost savings. No commuting,  buying gas, or traveling. Saved time means more time for your busy life, and less of a chance of being late for your sessions. We serve New York, Wisconsin, and Maryland, which allows for services to be provided in remote areas or to clients with transportation restrictions.

Fewer cancellations. Minor illnesses, inclement weather, public health events, can't get in the way of teletherapy.

Opportunities for carryover. Your family can watch and learn from sessions, which helps with practicing and using new skills at home.
